Meet Me

Courtney Schonauer

Courtney Schonauer, Registered Psychologist

I strongly believe that each person’s journey to change is unique and must be met with a dynamic approach which is fluid. Life changes quickly and your therapy experience should reflect this. I do not believe in templates or rigid plans to create change in a person. I believe we are at our highest potential when we can respond to what we need as it is being experienced now. I follow this perspective in my life and in my therapy approach. I work individually with each client or couple to meet their needs as they unfold and find energy and passion from building the therapy experience together to make it one that feels right for you.

Over the past 10 years I have had the privilege of working in a number of settings with a number of different populations that has allowed me to gain diverse experience and build an eclectic approach which results in my being able to tailor a therapy that will be a fit for your unique personality and needs.

I have worked in the Mental Health System with AHS, within Employee and Family Assistance Programs, in a University Wellness Centre, at a Special Needs School and in a Private Collaberative Health Clinic. All of these experiences have contributed to the enrichment of my practice.

In addition to my therapy experience I maintain advanced professional trainings in a number of therapeutic modalities. These modalities are explained further under my Therapy Approaches tab.

I am a Registered Psychologist with The College of Alberta Psychologists as well as a member of The Psychologists Association of Alberta.

For the past 10 years I have been working with individuals, couples and family diads in a number of settings. This has allowed me to collect a diverse and eclectic skill set to provide individualized therapy for each client that takes the step to engage in counselling.

"She understood that the hardest times in life to go through were when she was transitioning from one version of herself to another."
